Abstract

In the method according to the invention for producing electrochemical gas sensors with at least one measuring electrode consisting of a metal sheet and a counter electrode, optionally an additional reference electrode, and a gel electrolyte between the measuring and counter electrodes, the gel electrolyte mass is first subjected to a vacuum treatment for degassing, then to a polymerization process subjected and only then applied the metal sheet for the measuring and / or counterelectrode to the surface of the polymerized gel electrolyte. As a result of the exact, uniform and continuous contacting of the electrodes with the gel, the sensitivity, the reproducibility, the long-term stability can be significantly improved and the response and decay time of the gas sensors can be considerably reduced. The manufacturing process can be further optimized by applying a plastic film to the surface of the gel electrolyte before the polymerization process.
