Abstract

Abstract There is disclosed an image forming apparatus for achieving plural processing modes. The original image is divided into plural areas, and a monocolor or multi-color reproduction is seletected for each of thus divided areas, so that the resulting reproduction contains a mixture of monocolor image areas (between U and S excluding b) and multi-color image areas (b).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 23
Claim 1
Independent Claim 60 words
I. A color image reproducing apparatus comprising: division means for dividing an original image into plural areas; setting means for setting a multi-color or monocolor reproduction for each of thus divided areas; and reproduction means for reproducing multi-color reproduced images and mono-color reproduced images in mixed manner on a same recording material according to the setting of said setting means.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 33 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim I, wherein said reproduction means is adapted to reproduce said mono-color reproduced image with a resolving power higher than that of said multi-color reproduced image.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 33 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim I, wherein said reproduction means is adapted to reproduce said multi-color reproduced image with a tonal rendition better than that of said monocolor reproduced image.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 32 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim I, wherein said mono-color reproduced image is an image showing an average density change over the entire visible wavelength range of the original image.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim I, wherein said reproduction means is adapted to reproduce tonal rendition by pulse width modulation.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 27 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 5, wherein said reproduction means is adapted to effect pulse width modulation through comparison with a predetermined pattern signal.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 35 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 6, wherein the repeating frequency of said pattern signal is higher in the reproduction of the mono-color image than in the reproduction of the multi- color image.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 6, wherein said pattern signal is a triangular wave signal.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 64 words
A color image reproducing apparatus comprising: multi-color reproduction means for effecting image reproduction with plural colors; mono-color reproduction means for effecting image reproduction with a single color; setting means for setting either one of said reproduction means; and switching means for increasing the resolving power in the mono-color reproduction higher than that in the multi-color reproduction, according to the setting by said setting means.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 40 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 9, wherein said switching means is adapted to improve the tonal rendition in the multi-color reproduction in comparison with that in the monocolor reproduction, according to the setting by said setting means.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 25 words
II. A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 9, wherein said both reproduction means are adapted to reproduce tonal rendition by pulse width modulation.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 28 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim II, wherein said both reproduction means are adapted to achieve pulse width modulation through comparison with a predetermined pattern signal.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 38 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 12, wherein said switching means is adapted to switch the repeating frequency of said pattern signal, wherein said frequency is higher in the mono-color reproduction than in the multi-color reproduction.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 18 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 12, wherein said pattern signal is a triangular wave signal.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 67 words
An image forming apparatus comprising: reader means for reading at least two areas of an original image placed on an original support; image process means for applying respectively different processes to images read from said areas; and image formation means for forming images of said areas, processed by said process means and moved with respect to the positions on said original support, on a same recording material.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 38 words
An image forming apparatus according to Claim 15, wherein said image process means is capable of a multi-color process mode for image reproduction with plural colors and a mono-color process mode for image reproduction with a single color.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 28 words
An image forming apparatus according to Claim 15, wherein said image process means is capable of plural magnification-change process modes with respectively different image magnifications at image reproduction.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 29 words
An image forming apparatus according to Claim 15, wherein said image process means is capable of plural resolving power process modes with respectively different resolving powers at image reproduction.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 26 words
An image forming apparatus according to Claim 15, wherein said image process means is capable of plural tonal process modes with respectively different tonal conversion characteristics.
Claim 20
Dependent Claim 31 words
An image forming apparatus according to Claim 15, wherein said image process means is capable of plural color conversion process modes for image output in different colors from the read color.
Claim 21
Dependent Claim 68 words
A color image reproducing apparatus comprising: generation means for generating a color image signal; tone correction means for tone correction of said color image signal; color image forming means for forming an image of plural colors according to the output of said correction means; and modification means for modifying the correction characteristic of said tone correction means according to the color formed by said color image forming means.
Claim 22
Dependent Claim 19 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 21, wherein said tone correction means is composed of a memory.
Claim 23
Dependent Claim 39 words
A color image reproducing apparatus according to Claim 21, wherein said color image forming means is adapted to switch the colors in succession, and said modification means is adapted to modify the correction characteristic in response to said switching.
