Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
133 words
A method of producing a heat resistant composition, comprising, dissolving and mixing an aluminium alkoxide and a metal Me in the form of an alkoxide and/or metallic Me in a mole ratio of 200 moles of aluminium alkoxide which corresponds to 100 moles of Al₂O₃ to from 5-20 moles of metal Me alkoxide in an alcohol to form an alcoholic solution, the Me being at least one of Ba, Ca and Sr, adding from 0.5-10 equivalents of water to the alcoholic solution at a temperature of 50-100°C to hydrolyse the alkoxides, aging the hydrolysed solution for at least one hour, separating the hydrolysis product from the solution, optionally pre-calcining the product at a temperature of from 200-800°C, and firing the product at a temperature of not less than 1200°C for from 5-30 hours.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
20 words
A method according to claim 1 wherein the aluminium alkoxide and the metal alkoxide are complexed alkoxides and/or mixed alkoxides.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
17 words
A method according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the alkoxide has from 1-4 carbon atoms.
Claim 4
Independent Claim
29 words
A method according to any one of claims 1 to 3 wherein the aging is effected for a period of 5-10 hours after the addition of water for hydrolysis.
Claim 5
Independent Claim
16 words
A method according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the Metal Me is barium.
Claim 6
Independent Claim
114 words
A method of producing a heat resistant composition, comprising, dissolving and mixing an aluminium alkoxide and a metal Me in the form of an alkoxide and/or metallic Me in a mole ratio of 200 moles of aluminium alkoxide which corresponds to 100 moles of Al₂O₃ to from 5-20 moles of metal Me alkoxide in an alcohol while bubbling the solution with dry nitrogen gas, the Me being at least one of Ba, Ca and Sr, drying the resultant solution under reduced pressure to obtain a gel, precalcining the gel in air at a temperature of from 200-800°C, and firing the precalcined product at a temperature of not less than 1200°C for from 5-30 hours.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
38 words
A method according to claim 6 wherein the mole ratio of aluminium alkoxide to metal Me alkoxide is 12:1, the precalcining is effected at 800°C for 5 hours and the firing is effected at 1300°C for 5 hours.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
20 words
A catalyst or catalyst carrier comprising a composition obtainable by a method according to any one of the preceding claims.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
37 words
A catalyst or catalytic carrier consisting essentially of MeO·6Al₂O₃ wherein Me is Ba, Ca or Sr, and exhibiting a BET specific surface area in excess of 4.5 m²/g after calcination at a temperature of from 1200-1450°C .
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
41 words
A catalyst or catalytic carrier comprising MeO.6Al₂O₃, wherein Me is Ba, Ca or Sr, obtainable by hydrolysis or thermal decomposition of an alkoxide and exhibiting a BET specific surface area in excess of 4.5 m²/g at a temperature of from 1200-1600°C.
