Abstract

A device on a telephone subscriber line with two alternately automatically switchable microphone units (SP1, SP2) for switching off a microphone unit that has an unwanted loop closure from the switching center. The microphone units (SP1, SP2) can be connected to the telephone line (a1, b1) via a two-way switch (W), through which the loop in a microphone unit is connected to the telephone line when the loop is closed. Each of the microphone units (SP1, SP2) is connected to the changeover switching device (W) via a resettable switch-off device (K1, K2). In the event of a loop being closed in a call station by a receiver who is not on-hook, a switch signal (K1, K2) is sent to the switch-off devices (K1, K2) on the basis of a control signal coming from the exchange, by means of which the call stations (SP1, SP2) are separated from the two-way switch device (W). By means of a monitoring device (16), a reset signal is given to the switch-off device (K1, K2), which is assigned to the call station, in which there is no loop closure, and this call station is reconnected to the changeover switching device (W). The voltage on the telephone line is continuously monitored by a short-circuit monitoring device (11-12) and, in the event of a short-circuit without the switching center taking action, the defective station is separated from the two-way switching device (W).
