Abstract
Abstract The totally rounded stem (1) is provided in its proximal area with recesses (5) as an anchoring structure. The circumferential surfaces (6) of the recesses (5) are perpendicular to the stem surface. In the event of loads in the direction of the stem axis, i.e. in the direction of the main loads (8), there remains, even after contraction of the bone cement (7), a step-type bearing between recess (5) and bone cement (7). This bearing is perpendicular to the main load direction (8). There are therefore no load components forcing the bone cement (7) out of the recess (5). <IMAGE>
