Abstract

Abstract A fluid pressure transmitter suitable for use in potentially explosive atmospheres of the type comprising a measuring transducer provided with inductive, capacitive or resistive sensor means, the transducer having at least one measuring chamber (HA, HB) in which electrical or electronic transducing elements are located, the measuring chamber being defined on one side by a measuring diaphragm (M) and carrying on the other side at least one flameproof joint (30A,30B) capable to permit passage of a pressure fluid in a direction towards or away from the measuring diaphragm (M). In order to ensure, at the same time, the compliance with explosion safety regulations, a sufficient pressure fluid flow rate and a great simplicity in structure and in carrying out the construction, the flameproof joint or joints (30A, 30B) consist of one or more peripheral grooves (36) provided at the interface that is defined by a small cylinder (34) when force-fitted in a corresponding recess (32).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 120 words
A fluid pressure transmitter for use in potentially explosive atmospheres comprising a measuring transducer provided with inductive, capacitive or resistive sensor means, said transducer having at least one measuring chamber (HA, HB) in which electrical or electronic transducing elements are located, said measuring chamber being defined on one side by a measuring diaphragm (M) and carrying on the other side at least one flameproof joint (30A, 30B) capable of permitting a pressure fluid to flow to and from the measuring diaphragm (M), characterized in that the flameproof joint or joints (30A, 30B) are formed by one or more peripheral grooves (36) provided at the interface that is defined by a small cylinder (34) when force-fitted in a corresponding recess (32).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 120 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 54 words
The pressure transmitter according to claim 1, characterized in that the cylinder (34) is provided with one or more peripheral grooves (36) of radial size which meets the safety regulations therefor and of circumferential size which may be varied, the cylinder being fitted in a cylindrical recess (32) having a continuous inner wall surface.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 46 words
The pressure transmitter according to claim 1,characterized in that the recess (42) is formed with one or more inner peripheral grooves (46) of radial size that meets the regulations, and of circumferential size that may be varied, while the cylinder (44) has a continuous side surface.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 51 words
The pressure transmitter according to claims 2 and 3, characterized in that the radial size of the grooves (36, 46) in the cylinder (34), or in the recess (42), ranges from 0.08 to 0.15mm and the axial length of the cylinder (34,44) is in the range of 6 to 15 mm.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
The pressure transmitter according to claims 1, 2, 3 or 4, characterized in that the cylinder is supporting, in operation, at least one component of the transducing elements contained in the measuring chamber (HA, HB).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 88 words
The pressure transmitter according to any of the preceding claims, of the type which further includes a process chamber (C, P) bounded by a sealing diaphragm (21A, 21B), while the measuring chamber (HA, HB) is filled with a pressure transmitting fluid, characterized in that said joint or joints (30A, 30B) are provided in the measuring chamber (HA, HB) between the electrical or electronic elements and the sealing diaphragm (21A, 21B) and the grooves (36, 46) are sized to permit passage of said pressure transmitting fluid in both directions.
