Abstract

Abstract Microsurgical suture needles are made by providing a precious stone plate (3) with main surfaces extending obliquely with respect to the longitudinal rib. A metal shank (2) is provided with an end face extending correspondingly obliquely with respect to its longitudinal axis. The precious stone plate is attached with one main surface on the oblique end face of the metal shank. The other main surface of the precious stone plate is ground and provided with a sharp tip (6) and cutting edges (7).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 122 words
Method of making microsurgical suture needles (1, 8, 14) characterized in that it comprises the following steps: cutting from a precious stone log a plate (3, 15) with main surfaces extending obliquely with respect to the peripheral edges of the log; grinding at one end of a metal shank an end face extending correspondingly obliquely with respect to the longitudinal axis of said metal shank (2); attaching the precious stone plate (3,15) with one main surface on the oblique end face of the metal shank; thereafter grinding the other main surface of the precious stone plate in order to provide the precious stone plate with a sharp tip (6,16) and cutting edges (7); said metal shank being provided with a bend (13).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 122 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 54 words
Method according to claim 1, characterized in that a titanium-copper-silver or gold-tantalum alloy is applied on the oblique end face of the metal shank (2) and on the main surface of the precious stone plate (3, 15) to be attached thereon, whereafter both metalized faces are attached to each other at an increased temperature.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 82 words
Microsurgical suture needle (1, 8,14), obtainable by the method according to any of claims 1 or 2, said needle comprising a metal shank (2) with a curved end section, characterized by a precious stone plate (3,15) attached with a main surface to an end face of said end section, said end face extending obliquely with respect to the longitudinal axis of said metal shank (2) and said precious stone plate (3,15) being provided with a tip (6, 16) and cutting edges (7).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 29 words
Microsurgical suture needle according to claim 3, characterized in that a recess (9) is provided in the precious stone plate (3,15) at the side of the metal shank (2).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
Microsurgical suture needle according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the precious stone plate (3,15) consists of diamond.
