Multilayer flexible film and flexible medical solution pouches

Claim 2

A flexible film comprising: (a) a sealant layer comprising an ethylene propylene copolymer, modified ethylene propylene copolymer, or flexible copolyester; (b) at least one interior layer comprising a polymeric material which imparts flexibility to the film; and (c) an outer layer comprising ethylene propylene copolymer or flexible copolyester.

Claim 3

A flexible film according to Claim 1 wherein the said at least one interior layer comprises (a) an elastomeric copolymer, (b) an elastomeric terpolymer, (c) an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, (d) a modified ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, (e) an ethylene propylene copolymer, (f) a modified ethylene propylene copolymer, (g) a very low density polyethylene, or (h) a blend thereof.

Claim 4

A flexible film according to claim 1 or 2 wherein the sealant layer (a) comprises ethylene propylene copolymer or modified ethylene propylene copolymer.

Claim 5

A flexible film according to claim 3 wherein the interior layer comprises an elastomeric copolymer, elastomeric terpolymer, or a blend thereof.

Claim 6

A flexible film according to claim 3 or 4 which, in addition to the sealant layer (a) and the interior layer (b), comprises (c) a third, adhesive layer; and (d) an outer layer comprising flexible copolyester.

Claim 7

A flexible film according to claim 5 wherein the third, adhesive layer comprises ethylene/methacrylate copolymer or ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer.

Claim 8

A flexible film according to claim 1 comprising: (a) a sealant layer comprising ethylene propylene copolymer or flexible copolyester; (b) a second, interior layer comprising (i) a blend of ethylene propylene copolymer with a polymeric material which imparts flexibility to the film, or (ii) modified ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer; (c) a third, interior layer comprising a polymeric material which imparts flexibility to the film; (d) a fourth, interior layer comprising; (i) a polymeric material or blend of material substantially similar to the second layer, or (ii) ethylene/methacrylate copolymer; and (e) a fifth, outer layer comprising a flexible copolyester or ethylene/propylene copolymer.

Claim 9

A flexible film according to claim 7 wherein the polymeric material of the second and fourth interior layers is (a) modified ethylene/propylene copolymer, (b) a blend of ethylene/propylene copolymer and ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, (c) ethylene/propylene/diene copolymer; or (d) very low density polyethylene.

Claim 10

A flexible film according to claim 7 wherein the polymeric material of the third, interior layer is (a) modified ethylene/propylene copolymer, (b) low modulus, low melting point ethylene/ propylene copolymer, (c) a blend of ethylene/propylene copolymer and ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, (d) ethylene/propylene/diene copolymer, (e) ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, (f) very low density polyethylene, or (g) a blend of the above.

Claim 11

A flexible film according to claim 1 comprising: (a) a sealant layer comprising ethylene propylene copolymer; (b) a second, interior layer comprising a blend of ethylene propylene copolymer with a polymeric material which imparts flexibility to the film; (c) a third, interior layer comprising a blend of ethylene propylene copolymer and ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, a blend of ethylene/propylene copolymer and polypropylene, or a ethylene/propylene/diene copolymer; (d) a fourth, interior layer comprising (i) a blend substantially similar to the second, interior layer; or (ii) ethylene/methacrylate copolymer; (e) a fifth, interior layer comprising (i) a blend of ethylene/propylene copolymer and ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer, or (ii) ethylene/propylene/diene copolymer; (f) a sixth, interior layer comprising (i) a blend substantially similar to the fourth, interior layer, or (ii) an elastomeric adhesive material; and (g) a seventh, outer layer comprising ethylene/ propylene copolymer or flexible copolyester.

Claim 12

A flexible laminate according to claim 10 wherein the polymeric material of the second, interior layer comprises a blend of (a) ethylene/propylene copolymer and ethylene/ vinyl acetate copolymer, or (b) ethylene/propylene copolymer and polypropylene.

Claim 13

A flexible laminate according to claim 10 or 11 wherein the elastomeric adhesive material of the sixth, interior layer comprises a modified ethylene/vinyl acetate adhesive.

Claim 14

A flexible pouch made from a film of any of any of claims 1 to 12.
