What we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 106 words
In a fluorescent lamp comprising a glass envelope having electrodes at its ends, a mercury and inert gas filling within said glass envelope, and a phosphor coating deposited on the interior surface of said glass envelope, the improvment which comprises using a blended mixture of a lanthanum cerium orthophosphate phosphor activated with terbium ion having the general formula: wherein x is in the approximate range 0.05-0.60, and y is in the approximate range 0.05-0.20, with a europium-activated yttrium oxide phosphor having the general forumla: wherein a is in the approximate range 0.015-0.040, said phosphor combination producing higher luminous efficiency than is obtained with conventional phosphor blends.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 15 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 1 wherein said glass envelope comprises a cylindrical tube.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 1 wherein said phosphors are blended in pre-determined amounts to produce white color illumination.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 30 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 1 wherein said phosphor combination further includes a blue color emission phosphor and said phosphors are blended in pre-determined amounts to produce white color, illumination.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 30 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 1 wherein said phosphor combination is deposited as a layer upon the surface of a white color emission phosphor deposited on the glass surface.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 1 wherein said phosphor combination is deposited as a layer upon the surface of an optically transparent conductive coating deposited on the glass surface.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 145 words
In a fluorescent lamp comprising a tubular shaped glass envelope having electrodes at its ends, a mercury and inert gas filling which produces a low-pressure discharge of ultraviolet radiation, and a phosphor coating deposited on the interior surface of said glass envelope, the improvement which comprises using a blended mixture of narrow band emitting phosphors, said phosphors including a blue color emission phosphor, a lanthanum cerium orthophosphate phosphor activated with terbium ion having the general formula: wherein x is in the approximate range 0.05-0.60, and y is in the approximate range 0.05-0.20, with a europium-activated yttrium oxide phosphor having the general formula: wherein a is in the approximate range 0.015-0.040, said phosphors being mixed together in pre-determined amounts to produce white color illumination at a color temperature up to about 7000 * K and at higher luminous efficiency than is obtained with conventional phosphor blends.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 32 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 7 wherein said blue color emission phosphor is selected from europium-activated strontium chlorophosphate, europium-activated strontium barium calcium chlorophosphate, and europium-activated barium magnesium aluminate, including mixtures thereof.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 30 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 7 wherein said phosphor mixture is deposited as a layer upon the surface of a white color emission phosphor deposited on the glass surface.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 30 words
A fluorescent lamp as in claim 7 wherein said phosphor coating is deposited as a layer upon the surface of an optically transparent conductive coating deposited on the glass surface.
