Tool for manufacturing an electrical contact pin for printed-circuit boards
Abstract
The manufacturing process produces contact pins (1), each of which has a press-in zone consisting of three elastic legs (5, 6, 7). The latter serves for the solderless fastening of the contact pin (1) in through-plated bores (2) of printed circuit boards (3). The three legs (5, 6, 7), which are offset by 120 ° to one another, are formed in one working step by using a combined stamping and extrusion process. The tool used in the manufacturing process consists of a die and stamp. To form a first leg (5) of the press-in zone, a cutting and embossing web of the punch is lowered into a corresponding slot in the die. In order to form the other two legs (6, 7), material from the shaft of the contact pin (1) is displaced by oblique surfaces of the die into two recesses corresponding to these surfaces, which are arranged in the stamp on both longitudinal sides of the cutting and embossing web.
