Electronic unit, in particular for a microcircuit card, and card having such a unit
Abstract
The subject of the invention is an electronic unit of small dimensions which can be used in particular for the manufacture of microcircuit cards. In this unit which comprises a support (8, 9) capable of being subjected to stresses which can cause its deformation, an integrated circuit chip (1) and a set of conductors (5) each having an end to which is fixed a connection terminal (2) of the chip and another rigidly linked to the support, the chip is mounted on a flexible sheet of insulating material (3) on which is fixed at least a portion of each of the conductors, which is carried by the support directly or through these conductors and at least a fraction of which includes the area in which the chip is located and a major part of the surrounding thereof is devoid of any rigid connection with this support. The flexible sheet thus has a certain freedom which allows it not to follow or only partially follow the movements of the support when it actually undergoes deformations, which makes it possible to at least largely avoid the stresses to which it is then subject to be transmitted not only to the connections between the terminals of the chip and the conductors but also to the conductors themselves. Applications to credit cards, parking cards, payment cards for phone calls etc.
