Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 109 words
A process for the preparation of a fibre and/or a monolithic material comprising forming a homogeneous solution by dissolving in water, or in a C l - C 4 alcohol or in a mixture of water and a C 1 - C 4 alcohol an aluminium halohydrate organic complex formed from an aluminium halohydrate and a polyol containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms and at least 2 hydroxy groups, optionally including an organic silicate containing at least one C 1 - C 6 alkoxy group and evaporating solvent until the solution forms a filament or clear coherent gel which on firing forms a ceramic fibre or a monolithic material.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 109 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 34 words
A process as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the homogenous solution contains salts or alkoxides of other elements which assist in the formation of or enhance the properties of the filaments or ceramic fibres.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
A process as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the additive is a chloride selected from the group calcium, magnesium chromium, zirconium.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 15 words
A process as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the additive is an alkoxide of boron.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 54 words
A process as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the polyols are selected from the group comprising: 1, 2 propylene glycol 1, 1, 1 trimethylolpropane 1, 3 butane diol 1, 2, 3 trihydroxypropane 2 methyl 2, 4 pentanediol 2, 2 dimethyl 1, 3 dihydroxypropane and the aluminium halohydrate is an aluminium chlorhydrate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 20 words
A process as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the solvent is a mixture of ethanol and water.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 23 words
A method as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the organic silicate is technical ethyl silicate as defined in the specification.
Claim 9
