Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 116 words
A connector (12) for an IC card electronic insertion device and a corresponding IC card (B) characterized by means (19a,31a respectively) which allows the IC card (B) to be fully inserted to the insertion end (13) of the connector (12) only when the IC card (B) is inserted into the card slot (11) in the correct direction and with the correct face orientation with respect to the connector (12), and which stops the card (from advancing further) at a position where the card terminals (33) do not contact the terminals (14) on the connector (12) if the wrong end of the card is inserted in the opposite direction or if the card face is oriented incorrectly.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 116 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 90 words
A connector and IC card according to claim 1, wherein the said means (31a) on the card (B) comprises of a cam face (31a) at the leading edge of the IC card (B) and wherein the means (19a) in the connector comprises an abutment (19a) at a position between card slot (11) and the terminals (14), which in spring biased and can be moved by the cam face (31a) against the bias to allow the card edge to reach the insertion end (13) only when the card is correctly inserted.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 61 words
A connector and IC card according to claim 2, wherein the means on the connector and card respectively comprise a projection (21) from the bottom of the card slot (11) and a corresponding recess (20) in the leading edge of the card respectively, to allow the card edge to reach the insertion end (13) only when the card is correctly inserted.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 59 words
A connector and IC card according to claim 1, wherein the card (B) has opposite side egdes which have a taper over part of their length and wherein the connector (12) has a pair of guide rails (15) each of which is profiled (15a) to match the taper of the edges of the card (B) to ensure correct insertion.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 12 words
A connector (12) as described in any of claims 1 to 4.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
An IC card (B) as described in any of claims 1 to 4.
