Abstract

Abstract A photoelectric monitor for a mold comprises a pair of securement members (5, 6) secured to opposite sides of a molding zone of a mold (1) and provided with holes (13, 14) which are matched one-to-one with each other across the molding zone, two sensor blocks (3, 4) secured to a molder as spaced apart from the mold (1) and including light-emitting elements (8a) and light-receiving elements (8b), a controller (11) connected to each of the sensor blocks (3, 4), optical fibers (7) each having its one end detachably connected to the light-emitting element (8a) of one of the sensor blocks (3) and its other end detachably connected to one of the securement members (6) through the hole (14), and optical fibers (7) each having its one end detachably connected to the light-receiving element (8b) of the other sensor block (4) and its other end detachably connected to the other securement member (5) through the hole (13).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 223 words
A photoelectric monitor for a mold for checking whether there is a molding remaining attached to the mold, in which light is emitted from a light-emitting element to a light-receiving element through a molding zone and, when light is blocked by a remaining molding so that it is not incident on the light-receiving element, a controller stops the next mold clamping operation and produces an alarm, characterised by comprising: a pair of securement members (5, 6) provided on opposite sides of said molding zone (12), said securement members (5, 6) being formed with holes (13, 14) such that the holes (13) in one securement member (5) are matched one-to-one with the holes (14) in the other securement member (6); two sensor blocks (3, 4) secured to a molder and including light-emitting elements (8a) and light-receiving elements (8b); means for electrically connecting the two sensor blocks (3, 4) to said controller (11); optical fibers (7) each having one end connected to the light-emitting element (8a) in one of the sensor blocks (3, 4) and the other end inserted in the hole (14) in one of said securement members (6); and optical fibers (7) each having one end connected to the light-receiving element (8b) in the other sensor block (4) and the other end inserted in the hole (13) in the other securement member (5).
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 223 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
A photoelectric monitor according to claim 1 characterised in that the opposite ends of each of said optical fibers (7) have secured thereto tips (7') each having an annular groove (16).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 71 words
A photoelectric monitor according to claim 1 or claim 2 characterised in that one end of each of said optical fibers (7) is inserted into the hole (13, 14) in the securement member (5, 6) and is fastened to the securement member (5, 6) with a screw (15) by inserting the leading end of said screw into said annular groove (16) of the tip (7') secured to the optical fibre (7).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 69 words
A photoelectric monitor according to claim 3, characterised in that said screw (15) has a ball (19) projected from the leading end thereof and biased by a spring (18), and one end of each of said optical fibers (7) is fastened to the securement members (5, 6) by urging the ball (19) into said annular groove (16) into engagement with the tip (7') secured to the optical fiber (7).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 30 words
A photoelectric monitor according to any preceding claim characterised in that each of said optical fibers is fastened to the securement member (5, 6) while forming a substantially L-shaped configuration.
