Apparatus for localizing a radioactive source from a distance
Abstract
Device for the remote location of radioactive sources comprising a pinhole chamber (20), the walls of which constitute a shield for radioactive radiation, said pinhole chamber (20) comprising an opening (27) making it possible to introduce a first film (42 ) capable of detecting radioactive radiation emitted by said sources and arranged opposite the pinhole (24), a second film (40) sensitive to visible light in the same place as the first, and a plug (28) constituting a shield for the radioactive radiation and used to close said opening (27) during operation of the device. Preferably the pinhole (24) is delimited by a double cone; preferably it constitutes a double diaphragm, a small diaphragm allowing the passage of radioactive radiation and light, a large diaphragm allowing only the passage of radioactive radiation.
