Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 215 words
A water tank made of synthetic plastics material for a cross-flow radiator for internal combustion engines, comprising an adjacently-arranged compensating chamber (10) with a filler pipe (17) and a filler cap (18) containing pressure-control valves, with a breather pipe (14) which connects a high point (8") of the water tank (8) to a lower entry (15) into the compensating chamber (10), the tank being provided with a feed connection (3), with a connection (27) formed on the compensating chamber (10) in the bottom region thereof for a secondary return flow conduit (28), separate from the radiator return conduit (6), to the suction side of a coolant pump (5), characterised in that the breather pipe (14) is made in one piece and has a generally vertically extending main part which leads into a lower outlet and emptying opening (21) in the region of which integrally- formed emptying connections (25 and 26) open respectively out of the water tank (8) and the compensating chamber (10), and that the outlet and emptying opening (21) contains an emptying valve (22) which connects the breather pipe (14) and the emptying connections (25 and 26), as well as an emptying outlet (emptying pipe 23), with one another in the open position and seals them from one another in the closed position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 215 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 70 words
A water tank according to Claim 1, characterised in that the entry (15) of the breather pipe (14) into the chamber (10) is constituted - starting from the chamber (10) - by a mould slider of the synthetic plastics shaping tool which is movable in the direction of its longitudinal axis and/or in a plane (11) of separation between two chamber parts (9 and 12) connected by bonding or welding.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 54 words
A water tank according to Claim 1, characterised in that the breather pipe (14) is connected, through a control conduit (16) formed integrally on the water tank (8) and/or on the chamber (10), with an entry into the filler pipe (17), which entry is connected to a control chamber of the filler cap (18).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 53 words
A water tank according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the breather pipe (14) and/or the control conduit (16) are arranged essentially in ribs (20) which are formed externally on the water tank (8) and/or the chamber (10) and are tubularly thickened at a distance from the latter.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 44 words
A water tank according to Claim 4, characterised in that water tank (8) and the chamber (10) are integrally connected by a rib which contains the breather pipe (14) and/or the control conduit (16) at a distance from the water tank and the chamber.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 40 words
A water tank according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the chamber (10) comprises a lower part (9) integrally formed on the water tank (8) and an upper part (12) secured to the lower part.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 36 words
A water tank according to Claim 6. characterised in that the upper part (12) is made of a synthetic plastics material which is transparent or translucent at least in the region of the coolant level (13).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 48 words
A water tank according to Claim 6, characterised in that the entry (15) of the breather pipe (14) into the chamber (10) is arranged in the region on both sides of a plane (11) of separation between upper and lower parts (9 and 12) of the chamber (10).
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 102 words
A water tank according to Claim 3, characterised in that, in the region of the plane (11) of separation between upper and lower parts (9 and 12) of the chamber (10), a connection part (14') of the breather pipe (14) is formed on the lower part (9), which connection part opens into an opening in the plane (11) of separation which is laterally offset with respect to the main part of the breather pipe (14) and which continues - in the control conduit (16) adjoining the opening - as being formed on the upper part (12) towards the plane (11) of separation.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 105 words
A water tank according to Claim 9, characterised in that the parts of the breather pipe (14) and/or control conduit (16) formed by way of the plane (11) of separation on the one hand to the water tank (8) and on the other hand to the upper part (12) are arranged with free spacing between the water tank (8) and the chamber (10), and are connected with these by means of respective ribs (20) which are arranged, with spacing between them, approximately parallel to one another and also one behind the other and overlapping one another when seen in the direction of cooling air through-flow.
