Abstract A silver halide color photographic material is disclosed which has at least one silver halide emulsion layer on a support. Said silver halide emulsion layer contains at least one 1H-pyrazolo[3,2-c]-S-triazole type magenta coupler substituted at 6-position by a secondary alkyl group and at 7-position by a leaving group other than a hydrogen atom.

A silver halide color photographic material according to claim 1, wherein the magenta coupler is a compound of formula (I): wherein R 1 is a secondary alkyl group; R 2 is an alkyl group, an aryl group, a heterocyclic group or a group bonded to the carbon atom of the nucleus through a bonding group selected from among an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, a sulfur atom, acylamino, carbamoyl, sulfonamido, sulfamoylcarbonyl, carbonyloxy, oxycarbonyl, ureido, thioureido, thioamido, sulfone and sulfonyloxy groups; and X is a leaving group other than a hydrogen atom susceptible to displacement during reaction of the compound of formula (I) with the oxidation product of a color developing agent.
