Method and apparatus for global bus control
Abstract
In a manifold-oriented computer system, when deciding which requesting unit the manifold should be assigned to, the current state of the manifold system and what operation is to be performed on the manifold is taken into account. For this purpose, the allocation logic (arbiter) receives status information of the connected units, the bus command to be executed and the address of the addressed unit via separate or shared lines. This avoids idle times when using the bus. By evaluating the bus command, the feed priority can be changed dynamically in order to suppress hopeless bus access from the outset.
