Abstract

Abstract 57 A camper is disclosed which comprises a pair of laterally extending sections 14,16 which are coupled to a roof 12 by a plurality of strut pairs 32, 34, 36. A canvas wall is connected between the roof 12 and the sections 14 and 16 and includes elastic cords which are stretched when the camper is erected and which cause the canvas walls to fold inwardly when the camper is folded. The sections 14 and 16 are provided with threaded shafts 50, 52 which are engaged by gear assemblies 60 and which are driven by a motor 62 to cause the sections 14 and 16 to move outwardly which in turn pivots the struts 32,34 and 36 to force the roof upwardly to erect the camper and which upon reversing of the motor 62 causes the sections 14 and 16 to move inwardly into and overlapping position which pivots the struts 32, 34 and 36 downwardly to draw the roof down to the folded position.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 178 words
A camper, said camper having a roof 12 and a base portion which define a living area therebetween, two laterally extendable sections 14, 16 between the roof and the base, coupling means 32-36 for coupling said two laterally extending sections 14, 16 to the roof 12, and driving means, 50, 52, 62 for moving said roof between an extended position and a retracted position or at least one of said two laterally extendable sections 14, 16 between an extended position outwardly of the living area and a retracted position beneath said roof 12 in the living area, said coupling means between the roof and the two laterally extendable sections 14, 16 being such that upon movement of either the laterally extendable sections 14, 16 or the roof 12, by the drive means 50, 52 62, the other of the laterally extendable sections or the roof is caused to move between its extended position and retracted position characterized by said laterally extendable section 14, 16 being overlapped with one another when in the retracted position beneath said roof 16.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 178 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 31 words
The camper of Claim 1 wherein the laterally extendable sections 14, 16 are arranged at different heights so that upon movement to the retracted position the sections overlap with one another.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
The camper of Claim 1 wherein guide tracks 78, 80 are provided for guiding movement of the sections, each section having a roller 74 for engaging its guide track.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 72 words
The camper of Claim 1 wherein the coupling means 32-36 comprises struts 32-36 which are pivotally coupled to the roof 12 and the two laterally extendable sections 14, 16 such that when the drive means 50, 52, 62 draws the laterally extendable sections between their extended and retracted position the struts 32-36 are caused to pivot in a generally vertical plane to draw the roof 12 between its extended and retracted position.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 45 words
The camper of Claim 1 wherein the drive means 50, 52, 62 comprises a motor 62 which drives gear assemblies 60, which engage threaded shafts 50, 52 coupled to the sections 14, 16 for driving the sections 14, 16 between the retracted and extended positions.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 141 words
A camper having a roof 12, and a base portion which define a living area therebetween, means 50, 52, 62 for driving said roof between a retracted position in which said roof 12 is close to said base and an extended position in which said roof 12 is upwardly of said base so that a user can gain an entry to said living area, a deformable wall means 23 arranged between said roof 12 and said base, characterized by said wall means having elastic means 45 coupled thereto such that when said roof 12 moves to the extended position said elastic means 45 is stretched and wherein when said roof 12 is moved to the retracted position said elastic means 95 draw said wall means 25 inwardly of said camper to cause the wall means 25 to fold into said camper.
Claim 8
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 17 words
the camper of Claim 6 wherein the elastic means 45 comprises a plurality of elastic cords 45.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 125 words
The camper of Claim 6 wherein two wall means 23 are provided at each end of the camper, each wall means 23 extending between the roof 12 of the camper and a respective laterally extending section 14, 16 which is adapted to move laterally of said camper from a retracted position to an extended position and wherein said driving means 50, 52, 62 drives said laterally extending sections 14, 16 from the retracted to the extended position and coupling means 32-36 is arranged between the laterally extending sections 14, 16 and the roof 12 so that when said laterally extending sections 14, 16 are driven outwardly by said driving means, said roof 12 is caused to move from the retracted position to the extended position.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 97 words
The camper of Claim 1 wherein said drive means 50, 52, 62 includes a motor 62 for driving a pair of drive shafts, gears 61 on said drive shafts for engaging cylindrical gears 62 mounted on threaded shafts 50, 52, said threaded shafts 50, 52 being coupled to respective laterally extendable sections 14, 16 such that upon actuation of said motor 62 the drive shafts 92 are rotated to cause the gears 61 to drive the cylindrical gears 62 which rotate to drive said threaded shafts 50, 52 laterally to move the laterally extending sections 14, 16.
