Unsaturated polysiloxanes, polymerizable compositions and contact lenses therefrom

Abstract Translated from German Polysiloxane mit gleichmässiger Molekulargewichts-(MG)-Verteilung, mit 400-10000 MG Polysiloxansegmenten (MG 400-10000) und enthaltend mindestens mit den Polysiloxansegmenten durch dazwischenliegende Alkylen-harnstoff-oder urethanbindungen verbundene Vinylgruppe, werden aus Polysiloxan-polyolen, -polyaminen oder -polythiolen durch Reaktion mit einer ungesättigten Verbindung mit einem Isocyanatrest, beispielsweise 2-lsocyanatoethylmethacrylat, hergestellt. Die vinylgruppenhaltigen Polysiloxane eignen sich zur Herstellung von durch Strahlung oder Wärme härtbaren Uberzügen, für Glas, Textilien, Kunststoffe, Holz, Keramik, Metalle, als Folien oder Bandagen für medizinische Zwecke oder Formkörper, in Form von Kontaktlinsen, Kathetern oder Implantaten, entweder als solche oder in Kombination mit anderen Vinylmonomeren; besonders geeignet sind sie für die Herstellung harter oder weicher Kontaktlinsen, einschliesslich Hydrogel-Kontaktlinsen. Polysiloxanes with a uniform molecular weight (MG) distribution, with 400-10000 MG polysiloxane segments (MG 400-10000) and containing at least the vinyl group bonded to the polysiloxane segments by intervening alkylene-urea or urethane bonds, are made from polysiloxane-polyols, -polyamines or - polythiols prepared by reaction with an unsaturated compound with an isocyanate radical, for example 2-isocyanatoethyl methacrylate. The vinyl group-containing polysiloxanes are suitable for the production of coatings curable by radiation or heat, for glass, textiles, plastics, wood, ceramics, metals, as films or bandages for medical purposes or moldings, in the form of contact lenses, catheters or implants, either as such or in combination with other vinyl monomers; they are particularly suitable for the production of hard or soft contact lenses, including hydrogel contact lenses.
