Abstract

Abstract A carrier for a beverage container comprises a holder 10 extending from a body 14, the body 14 being capable of being secured to a support, and the holder 10 defining an opening 16, the opening 16 being capable of receiving a beverage container. The carrier may be formed of a plastics material. The holder 10 may include a pair of arms 12 which are resiliently deformable, and the holder 10 may be pivotally mounted to the body 14 for movement between an operative position for receiving a beverage container, and an inoperative position in which there is an interference fit between the arms 12 and the body 14. A base 38 may be provided to help retain a beverage container in the form of a canned drink, and a flange 46 may be provided to help retain by cantilever action a plate on the holder 10. There may be means for releasably securing the body 14 to a support, said releasable securing means possibly including a removable rigid tongue 52 for insertion between the window and the body of a vehicle door, although a flexible tongue and indeed other releasable securing means are possible.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 46 words
A carrier for a beverage container characterised in that there is a holder (10) extending from a body (14), the body being capable of being secured to a support, and the holder (10) defining an opening (16), the opening being capable of receiving a beverage container.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 46 words
A carrier for a beverage container characterised in that there is a holder (10) extending from a body (14), the body being capable of being secured to a support, and the holder (10) defining an opening (16), the opening being capable of receiving a beverage container.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
A carrier according to claim 1, characterised in that the holder (10) includes a pair of arms (12) defining the opening (16) therebetween, the pair of arms (12) having opposed free ends (18) spaced apart by a dimension (X) less than a parallel dimension (Y) of the opening (16).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 15 words
A carrier according to claim 2, characterised in that the arms (12) are resiliently deformable.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 36 words
A carrier according to claim 3, characterised in that the arms (12) have means defining a receiver (20) which is capable of engagement with a rim of a generally planar base of a pedestal wine glass.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 35 words
A carrier according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the holder (10) is pivotally mounted to the body (14) for movement between an operative position for receiving a beverage container and an inoperative position.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 60 words
A carrier according to claim 3 or claim 4, characterised in that the holder (10) is pivotally mounted to the body (14) for movement between an operative position for receiving a beverage container and an inoperative position, there being an interference fit between the arms (12) of the holder and the body when the holder is in its inoperative position.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 68 words
A carrier according to claim 5 or claim 6, characterised in that the body (14) is formed with a pair of opposed abutments (32,34a) such that one face of the holder abuts one of the abutments on the body and the other face of the holder abuts the other of the abutments on tre body to produce a cantilever effect when the holder is in its operative position.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 22 words
A carrier according to any preceding claim, characterised in that there is means (52,70,72) for releasably securing the body to a support.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 21 words
A carrier according to claim 8, characterised in that said releasable securing means includes a tongue (52) extending from the body.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 18 words
A carrier according to claim 9, characterised in that the tongue (52) is removable from the body (14).
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 25 words
A carrier according to any preceding claim, characterised in that there is means (58a) for controlling the tilt of the body relatively to a support.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 37 words
A carrier according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the body has a base (38) extending therefrom, the base being capable of helping to retain a beverage container received in the opening (16) in the holder.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 39 words
A carrier according to claim 12, characterised in that that end of the base (38) remote from the body has a protrusion (42) directed towards the holder (10) for locating with a recessed bottom face of a beverage container.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 33 words
A carrier according to any preceding claim, characterised in that the body has a flange (46) extending therefrom, the flange being capable of helping to retain a plate received on the holder (10).
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 36 words
A carrier according to claim 14, characterised in that that end of the flange (46) remote from the body has a protrusion directed towards the holder (10) for locating with a raised rim of a plate.
