Shaped ceramic article
Abstract
A ceramic, finely crystalline cordierite-containing molded body is described, which is obtainable by intensive grinding of pre-crystallized cordierite powder, mixing the powder with second additional phases of higher modulus of elasticity, shaping the mixture and sintering the resulting green body in an Si-containing atmosphere at temperatures between 900 and 1400 ° C. In addition to good mechanical strengths, the moldings according to the invention have excellent dielectric and thermal properties; they are therefore particularly suitable for use as a dielectric and as a heat-insulating structural element.
