Abstract

Abstract A stereoscopic camera (5) with two lenses (10), in which each lens (10) is supported by a support table (22) fixed rigidly in two parallel resilient plates (34). Simultaneous focussing and convergence of the lenses (10) is brought about by a cam (30) urging the plates (34) to bend, thereby constraining both lenses (10) to follow the required straight line loci.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 89 words
A stereo camera (5) comprising two spaced-apart camera units (14) each including a lens (10), each lens (10) being movable along a respective substantially straight line locus to achieve simultaneous convergence and focussing of the camera units, characterised in that each lens (10) is mounted on a respective support means (22) fixed rigidly to resilient plate means (34) oriented so that bending of the plate means (34) constrains the lens (10) to follow the said locus, and means (30) are provided for urging the resilient plate means to bend.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 89 words
A stereo camera (5) comprising two spaced-apart camera units (14) each including a lens (10), each lens (10) being movable along a respective substantially straight line locus to achieve simultaneous convergence and focussing of the camera units, characterised in that each lens (10) is mounted on a respective support means (22) fixed rigidly to resilient plate means (34) oriented so that bending of the plate means (34) constrains the lens (10) to follow the said locus, and means (30) are provided for urging the resilient plate means to bend.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
A stereo camera as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the urging means comprises means (30) for pushing on both the two support means.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 39 words
A stereo camera as claimed in Claim 2 wherein the plate means (34) are arranged so that, for all positions of the pushing means (30), the support means (22) are resiliently urged into contact with the pushing means (30).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
A stereo camera as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein the pushing means comprises a continuously rotatable cam (30).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 30 words
A stereo camera as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 wherein the pushing means comprises a pair of mechanically linked cams, one cam for pushing on each support means.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 58 words
A stereo camera as claimed in any one of the previous Claims wherein the plate means comprises two spaced apart rectangular plates (34), whose upper edges and whose lower edges are parallel to each other, the upper edges are clamped to the respective lens support means (22) and the lower edges are clamped to a base member (50).
