Abstract

Abstract The present invention is designated to solve such problems whereby a process for producing a PbMo 6 S 8 type compound superconductor excellent in stoichiometric composition and electric characteristics can be provided. In addition to the above, another purpose of the present invention is to provide a process for producing a PbMo 6 S 8 type compound superconductor in wire form with stable electrical characteristics. These purposes are acheived by filling into a barrier material at least one of a PbMo 6 S 8 type compound and a mixed material containing Pb, Mo and S as components in such proportions that a PbMo 6 S 8 type compound is finally - obtained, forming the resulting composite and thermally treating this reduced cross-section composite under pressure at a temperature above 800°C.
