Abstract

Abstract A connector (20) for establishing electrical contact with a high count twisted pair cable (10) is formed of a wiring block (22) which telescopes into a receptacle (24). The leading edges (22a, 22b) of the wiring block in conjunction with the scalloped trailing edge (30, 32) of the receptacle form a shear for cutting the conductors (14) assembled in the wiring block to length.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim 101 words
A connector for establishing electrical contact with the conductors of a twisted pair cable comprising a receptacle, and a wiring block into which the conductors may be inserted; said receptacle having a cavity with an opening into which said wiring block can telescope, a plurality of conductive insulation piercing devices fixed thereto extending into said cavity and a cutting edge; and said wiring block having a leading edge which cooperates with said cutting edge of said receptacle as the wiring block is telescoped into said opening whereby ends of the conductors protruding from the wiring block can be trimmed to length.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 101 words
A connector for establishing electrical contact with the conductors of a twisted pair cable comprising a receptacle, and a wiring block into which the conductors may be inserted; said receptacle having a cavity with an opening into which said wiring block can telescope, a plurality of conductive insulation piercing devices fixed thereto extending into said cavity and a cutting edge; and said wiring block having a leading edge which cooperates with said cutting edge of said receptacle as the wiring block is telescoped into said opening whereby ends of the conductors protruding from the wiring block can be trimmed to length.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
A connector as claimed in claim 1 wherein said cutting edge comprises a plurality of scalloped cutting edges.
