Abstract In a process for the preparation of quinolone- and naphthyridonecarboxylic acids of the formula <IMAGE> , suitable aminoacrylic acid derivatives are subjected to a cyclocondensation reaction, followed by hydrolysis. The compounds are valuable intermediates for the preparation of antibacterial substances.
