Abstract

Abstract A motor-driven garbage truck provided with a detachable garbage container equipped with releasable coupling elements, and also having permanently mounted thereon which includes a pouring chute in the forward portion, lifting and tipping apparatus for picking up a garbage can and discharging the contents thereof into the chute leading to a receiving space, and a conveying and compacting apparatus for transferring the garbage from the receiving space into the container through the receiving opening, which is provided with a closure is disclosed. The pouring unit is disposed in part above the driver's cab and in part between the cab and the container, the chute being disposed in a region extending behind and above the cab. The lifting and tipping apparatus includes at least one lifting arm, pivotally movable about a transverse pivot carried by the pouring unit or the chassis of the vehicle. The lifting arm carries at its free end a carrying rail, which is parallel to the tranverse pivot and pivotally movable between a pick-up position, in which the rail is disposed below and in front of the driver's cab, and a pouring position, in which the rail is disposed above and behind the cab. The rail is provided with a displaceable or pivotally movable, extensible coupling or gripping member for coupling to or gripping a garbage can placed on the street.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 256 words
Motor-powered refuse-collecting vehicle with interchangeable collecting receptacles (5) with detachable couplings (41, 42, 43) for containing the refuse, with a tipping unit (4) forming an integral part of the vehicle, consisting of a refuse inlet opening (25) located in the front section of the vehicle, partially above the cab (1) of the refuse-collecting vehicle and partially between this and the collecting receptacle (5) in the area behind and above the cab (1), and of a lifting and tipping device to pick up and empty refuse bins (19) into the refuse inlet opening (25) of the bin reception section (30), which opening has at least one lifting arm (6) pivotable about the transverse axis (46) of the tipping unit or chassis, and with a handling and press unit (32) to propel the refuse emptied into the refuse inlet opening (25) into the receptacle (5) through its loading opening which is provided with a sealing flap, characterized therein that the lifting arm (6) has a base rail (8) on its free end parallel to the transverse axis (46) which is pivotable between its pick-up area below and in front of the cab (1) and its tipping area above and behind the cab (1), that a pitman (12) bearing a driver plate (15) for refuse bins is swivel-mounted on a beam or hollow profile section (11) and that the beam or hollow profile section (11) is mounted on the base rail (8) such that it can be extended and thus displaced over at least one end of the same.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 256 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
Refuse-collecting vehicle according to claim 1, characterized therein that it has a short wheelbase to increase its manoeuvrability.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
Refuse-collecting vehicle according to claim 1 or 2, characterized therein that the cab (1) is located in advance of the front axle (2).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
Refuse-collecting vehicle according to any one of the claims 1 to 3, characterized therein that it is provided with right- and left-hand drive.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 65 words
Refuse-collecting vehicle according to any one of the claims 1 to 4, characterized therein that a pitman (12) is swivel-mounted about a vertical axis (50) eccentrically on the base rail (8) and bears the driver plate (15) for the refuse bin (19) on its free end such that it can swivel between its extended position and its neutral position resting against the base rail (8).
