Abstract

Abstract A hinge (1) consists of extruded aluminium section channel members (2, 3) each with a first channel (8) to receive the edge of a panel (6,7) and a second channel (9) to receive one end of an extruded nylon section linking member (4). The linking member (4) has a hollow bulbous portion (13, 14) at each end, the bulbous portions (13,14) being a snap fit in the channels (9). A door stop member (21) can alternatively be fitted into the second channel (9).

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
A hinge comprising first and second pivotally-connectable hinge members, the first hinge member having an open-mouthed channel to receive the second hinge member, the second hinge member having a bulbous edge portion arranged to bear against the interior surface of the channel to form the pivotal connection between the members, and the mouth of the channel being narrower than the width of the channel to retain the bulbous portion of the second hinge member in the channel.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 77 words
A hinge comprising first and second pivotally-connectable hinge members, the first hinge member having an open-mouthed channel to receive the second hinge member, the second hinge member having a bulbous edge portion arranged to bear against the interior surface of the channel to form the pivotal connection between the members, and the mouth of the channel being narrower than the width of the channel to retain the bulbous portion of the second hinge member in the channel.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 50 words
A hinge as claimed in claim 1, wherein the bulbous portion is so shaped that it can be inserted into the channel in a direction transverse to the length of the channel, and the bulbous portion is hollow and resiliently deformable so that it can be snap-fitted into the channel.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
A hinge, as claimed in claim 2, wherein the bulbous portion, as seen in section, is defined by resilient arms projecting from a body portion of the second hinge member.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 55 words
A hinge as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the first hinge member is provided with end members arranged to co-operate with the inserted bulbous portion to prevent its deformation and thus its removal from the channel, and each end member has a post arranged to enter the hollow interior of the bulbous portion.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 47 words
A hinge as claimed in claim 3, wherein the channel is formed with a stop to limit the degree of pivotal movement of the bulbous portion, and the stop is a projection at the base of the channel arranged to co-operate-with the distal ends of the arms.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 34 words
A hinge as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the first hinge member is provided with a further channel to receive one edge of a panel to which the hinge is to be attached.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
A hinge as claimed in claim 6, wherein the walls of the further channel are provided with teeth or serrations to assist in retaining the panel.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 28 words
A hinge as claimed in claim 6 or 7, wherein the base of the further channel is provided with a projecting barb to assist in retaining the panel.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 25 words
A hinge as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the second hinge member has a second bulbous portion to co-operate with a further hinge member.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 77 words
A door stop assembly comprising first and second interconnectable members, the first member having an open-mouthed channel to receive the second member, the second member having a bulbous edge portion arranged to fit in the interior surface of the channel and a door stop bead projecting from the bulbous edge portion, and the mouth of the channel being narrower than the width of the channel to retain the bulbous portion of the second member in the channel.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 77 words
A door stop assembly comprising first and second interconnectable members, the first member having an open-mouthed channel to receive the second member, the second member having a bulbous edge portion arranged to fit in the interior surface of the channel and a door stop bead projecting from the bulbous edge portion, and the mouth of the channel being narrower than the width of the channel to retain the bulbous portion of the second member in the channel.
