Abstract

The invention relates to a control circuit for a power transistor which is located in a deflection circuit of a television set and which supplies a deflection winding with a deflection current which rises in the form of a ramp. The drive circuit is periodically fed with switch-on pulses of a duration corresponding to the ramp length of the deflection current. It applies an increasing switch-on base current to the power transistor during the switch-on pulse duration, which controls the power transistor into the saturated state during essentially the entire switch-on pulse duration. After the end of the switch-on pulse, the drive circuit controls a switch-off base current which rapidly decreases in relation to the increase in the switch-on base current and finally changes the polarity, which causes the power transistor to be quickly returned from the saturated to the off state. A sensor device is assigned to the power transistor, which supplies the control circuit with an actual value signal proportional to the instantaneous value of the main transistor current. The drive circuit regulates the switch-on base current during its entire rise as a function of the actual value signal to a value which keeps the power transistor in the saturated state with only slight overdriving. The control circuit controls the slope of the switch-off base current in proportion to the actual value signal occurring at the end of the switch-on pulse.
