Method of determining the displacement in a picture sequence, and arrangement and applications therefor
Abstract
In a method for determining displacements in successively transmitted image sequences, correlation values of the image just received and of a previously received image are evaluated. The estimates for the displacement are corrected recursively by adding a correction value to an already determined value. The correction value is obtained from the quotient of the first derivative of the KKF at the point (dx, dy) (i-1) as well as the averaging of the 2nd derivative of the KKF at the same point and the AKF at the point (0,0). The method enables a useful estimate of the displacement to be determined after just two recursion steps. Advantageous applications of the method consist in the motion-adaptive interpolation of omitted picture sequences, in the flicker reduction of standard television signals and in noise suppression.
