Abstract

Abstract Biocompatible reservoirs are constituted by collagen, optionally associated with mucopolysaccharides and/or gelatin; these reservoirs can be filled with an active principle which does not have to be mixed with collagen. The reservoirs can be employed to either hold or to emit one or more active principles in order to concentrate same and/or to distribute same at a controlled rate "in vitro" and/or "in vivo". The reservoirs thus are enclosed vessels of conseration of "in vitro" or "in vivo" cultures of cells, bacteria or viruses.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 42 words
Collagen-based biocompatible reservoir consisting of a continuous envelope of a collagen film, characterised in that it comprises a first collagen tube surrounded by a synthetic matrix, and a second collagen tube of greater diameter, the free parts of the tubes being bonded.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 32 words
Collagen-based biocompatible reservoir, consisting of a collagen-film envelope according to Claim 1, characterised in that it contains an active substance enclosed in a collagen sponge, which is itself placed in the envelope.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 68 words
Process for manufacturing collagen-based biocompatible reservoirs according to Claim 1, according to which an aqueous gel of native collagen is used as the starting material, a film is extruded in a die from the aqueous gel, the film is coagulated in a coagulation bath, and the coagulated film is dried, characterised in that the free sides of the two films are bonded by pressing between two heating jaws.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 28 words
Manufacturing process according to Claim 3, characterised in that a crosslinking is performed by heating the collagen film or the reservoir, by treatment in an oven under vacuum.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 26 words
Artificial pancreas comprising a reservoir according to any one of Claims 1 and 2, characterised in that the said reservoir contains living and functional allogeneic cells.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
Cell container for freezing and/or freeze-drying, comprising a reservoir according to any one of Claims 1 and 2.
