Abstract 1. A diffraction-optical security element for indentifying the authenticity of documents, means of payment, goods and the like, comprising a reflecting phase diffraction structure (10) which is determined by the surface structure of a discontinuous reflection layer (8) embedded in a dielectric layer (7) and by the spacing (d) from a second reflection layer (6) characterized in that the second reflection layer is a continuous reflection layer (6) arranged on a surface of the dielectric layer (7).
