Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim
115 words
An absorbent structure such as a diaper or the like, comprising a backsheet, absorbent core, preferably a tcpsheet, and one or more elastic members along each longitudinal side of the structure, said elastic members being spaced outwardly of said core to provide a flexible spacing element; said structure being characterized in that: one or more of the spacing elements is folded over the core or tcpsheet of the diaper at one or more fold points and affixed to said core or topsheet at one or more contact points, wherety one or more of said elastic members is bent from its original configuration into a curvilinear shape, thereby providing an improved leg opening for said structure.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
115 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
40 words
A structure according to claim 1 wherein the spacing elements on both sides of the structure are folded over and affixed at one or more contact points, thereby providing generally outward-facing, curvilinearly-elasticized leg openings on both sides of the structure.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
29 words
A structure according to either of claims 1 and 2 wherein the fold points and their corresponding contact points are displaced away from the longitudinal mid-point of the structure.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
21 words
A structure according to claim 3 wherein the fold points and contact points are displaced towards the front of the structure.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
26 words
A structure according to any one of claims 1-4 wherein the fold points and contact points are affixed to each other by a line of adhesive.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
19 words
A structure according to any one of claims 1-5 wherein the core, and optionally the topsheet, are substantially rectangular.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
21 words
A structure according to any one of claims 1-5 wherein the core. and optionally the backsheet and topsheet, are substantially non-rectangular.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
26 words
A structure according to claim 7 wherein the core, the backsheet and the topsheet are in an hourglass, a wedge, a T-shape or an I-shape configuration.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
185 words
A method of manufacturing a disposable absorbent structure, provided with longitudinally extending substantially curvilinear elastic members characterised in that it comprises the steps of: a) forming a disposable absorbent structure comprising an absorbent body having side and end edges, a backsheet underlying, and optionally a tcpsheet overlying, said absorbent body and having marginal portions extending outwardly of the side edges of the absorbent body, one or more elastic members attached to said backsheet and extending linearly longitudinally of the marginal portions thereof, whereby each marginal portion forms a spacing element between the elastic member and the adjacent side edge of the absorbent body, said forming step being known per se; b) placing adhesive at predetermined contact points on the upper surface of said absorbent body, or when present on said tcpsheet, said contact points being located inwardly of the respective side edges of and adjacent the longitudinal mid point of the absorbent structure; c) folding said spacing elements laterally inwardly to cause attachment between fold points on said elements and said predetermined contact points thereby to cause said elastic elements to adopt a curvilinear configuration.
Claim 11
