Abstract

Abstract A carrier (10) has two rows of compartments each for receiving a magnetic tape cartridge. A slidable strip member is positioned at the bottom of each compartment to enable each cartridge to be easily extracted. A rack has flanges (34, 36, 38, 40) which receive the carrier, which is retained by projections (44) and springs (42) engaging apertures (20, 22) on the carrier. A movable cart has flanges (48) which similarly support carriers.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 3
Claim 1
Independent Claim 235 words
A magnetic tape cartridge carrier for receiving magnetic tape cartridges having the same height, width and length dimensions comprising: a frame including top, bottom, rear and spaced sidewall members forming a substantially rectangular enclosure, at least one shelf member within said enclosure, mounted to said sidewalls and extending parallel to said top and bottom members, to separate at least two smaller enclosures within said frame, a plurality of spaced wall members extending between said at least one shelf member, said top and bottom members of said frame and from the front of said enclosure to said rear member to separate said at least two smaller enclosures into a plurality of separate enclosures dimensioned to accommodate said magnetic tape cartridges, a plurality of movable members, a separate one of each being slidably disposed on the bottom of and projecting from each of said plurality of magnetic tape cartridge accommodating enclosures, each of said movable members being operable to convey a said magnetic tape cartridge out of its magnetic tape cartridge accommodating enclosure when said movable member is slid out of said enclosure, and, a first pair of apertures adjacent the front of said top member of said frame and a second pair of apertures adjacent the front of said bottom member, said first and second pairs of apertures being engageable by retaining means on a carrier support frame in which, in operation, the carrier is placed.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 235 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 71 words
A magnetic tape cartridge carrier as claimed in claim 1, in combination with a first support frame and a second support frame, the first support frame being in the form of a storage rack, and the second support frame being a movable cart, both support frames having carrier support flanges, and spring element retaining means for engaging said first pair of apertures, and projections for engaging said second pair of apertures.
