Abstract

Abstract The position of a brake actuating member, such as a brake pedal, or the force applied to the brake actuating member is sensed. A desired rate of deceleration of a vehicle is determined on the basis of the sensed position or force. The actual rate of deceleration of the vehicle is adjusted to the desired rate of deceleration of the vehicle.
