Abstract

Abstract A dot printer for printing letters or symbols by aggregated dots generates a second dot matrix pattern from a basic dot matrix pattern by a simple algorithm so that gaps between dots in the basic dot matrix pattern are filled up. The basic dot matrix pattern and the second dot matrix pattern are synthetically edited, and high-grade printed letters are obtained by using the resulting edited dot matrix pattern.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 69 words
A printing system in a dot printer for printing letters or symbols by aggregated dots, wherein a second matrix pattern is generated from a basic dot matrix pattern by an algorithm so that gaps between dots in the basic dot matrix pattern are filled up, and the basic dot matrix pattern and second dot matrix pattern are synthesized and edited and the resulting synthesized and edited pattern is printed.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 69 words
A printing system in a dot printer for printing letters or symbols by aggregated dots, wherein a second matrix pattern is generated from a basic dot matrix pattern by an algorithm so that gaps between dots in the basic dot matrix pattern are filled up, and the basic dot matrix pattern and second dot matrix pattern are synthesized and edited and the resulting synthesized and edited pattern is printed.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A printing system in a dot printer according to claim 1, wherein basic dot data and auxiliary data for inhibition of insertion of interpolation dots are stored in a memory for storing the dot matrix pattern therein.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 78 words
Printing apparatus for printing characters as arrangements of dots comprising .a memory (14) for storing dot patterns for a plurality of selectable characters, and means (10, 16, 18) for printing dot patterns of selected characters, characterised in that the apparatus further comprises means for editing the stored dot patern to interpolate additional dots between those of the stored pattern to produce a higher grade print quality, and feeding the edited pattern to said printing means (10, 16, 18).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 78 words
Printing apparatus for printing characters as arrangements of dots comprising .a memory (14) for storing dot patterns for a plurality of selectable characters, and means (10, 16, 18) for printing dot patterns of selected characters, characterised in that the apparatus further comprises means for editing the stored dot patern to interpolate additional dots between those of the stored pattern to produce a higher grade print quality, and feeding the edited pattern to said printing means (10, 16, 18).
