Abstract

Abstract Translated from German Flüssigkristalline Verbindungen der Formel <IMAGE> worin eine der Gruppen X¹ und X² eine Aethylengruppe -CH2CH2- und die andere eine Aethylengruppe -CH2CH2- oder eine einfache Kovalenzbindung bezeichnet, Ring A 1, 4-Phenylen oder trans-1, 4-Cyclohexylen darstellt und R¹ geradkettiges C1-C12-Alkyl oder an einem 1, 4-Phenylenring auch geradkettiges C1-C12-Alkoxy bedeutet, deren Herstellung und Verwendung für elektro-optische Zwecke sowie flüssigkristalline Gemische, die solche Verbindungen enthalten, werden beschrieben. Liquid-crystalline compounds of the formula <IMAGE> wherein one of the groups X¹ and X² denotes an ethylene group -CH2CH2- and the other an ethylene group -CH2CH2- or a simple covalent bond, ring A represents 1,4-phenylene or trans-1,4-cyclohexylene and R¹ is straight-chain C1-C12-alkyl or also a straight-chain C1-C12-alkoxy on a 1,4-phenylene ring, the preparation and use thereof for electro-optical purposes and liquid-crystalline mixtures which contain such compounds are described.
