Abstract

Abstract An improvement in sensor devices, particularly but not exclusively underground laid ones, generally for warning of heavy masses passing by and operating on the principle of capacitive state changes. The invention is also concerned with the capacitive arrangements provided to implement the device. This invention further relates to a means of implementing and installing the subject device.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim 93 words
An improvement to sensor devices, for example warning devices, but not limited thereto, operating on the principle of changes in the capacitive state induced by heavy masses passing by or exerting a gravity load action, characterized by a continuous polarization, i.e. polarization which is substantially free of alternating currents at any frequencies, the device being identifiable as a direct current capacitive system, and practically as a huge polarized capacitor adapted to readily resume the rest condition thereof and directly return to a required condition for detecting further changes independently of the previous state.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 93 words
An improvement to sensor devices, for example warning devices, but not limited thereto, operating on the principle of changes in the capacitive state induced by heavy masses passing by or exerting a gravity load action, characterized by a continuous polarization, i.e. polarization which is substantially free of alternating currents at any frequencies, the device being identifiable as a direct current capacitive system, and practically as a huge polarized capacitor adapted to readily resume the rest condition thereof and directly return to a required condition for detecting further changes independently of the previous state.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 39 words
An improved device according to Claim 1, characterized in that it comprises construction-wise essentially at least three metal layers, namely two outer layers jointly defining a screening shield and an inner layer, practically called "hot side" in the art.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 25 words
An improved device according to Claim 1, characterized in that the screening shield protects the sensor against interference, radio-electric noise, electric discharges, and stray currents.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 25 words
An improved device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the outer layers may include, for example, thin electrically conductive structures, such as aluminum ones.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 33 words
An improved device according to Claim 4, characterized in that the electrically conductive outer layers are interconnect at one or more locations depending on the "blanket" size or system manufacture and installation requirements.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 22 words
An improved device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the shielding metal layers are connected to an "analyzer" electric device proper.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 38 words
An improved device according to Claim 6, characterized in that connection to the analyzer electric device is provided by a shielded cable or lead whose shield is connected to the shielding layers of the ply materializing the system.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 46 words
An improved device according to Claim 2, characterized in that the ply comprises at least one layer "yielding" at least within the required limits for the sensor to detect loads and especially load changes for subsequent handling and processing in an electronic system known per se.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 28 words
An improved device according to Claim 8, characterized in that said cable or lead, or the like shielded conductor means, connects the system to a conventional electronic apparatus.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 44 words
An improved device according to Claim 8, characterized in that said yielding layer(s) is fabricated from electrically insulating materials adapted to yield under permanently and/or temporarily applied loads, and that the same are formed from practically known and used products in the packaging field.
