Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim 150 words
An apparatus for modifying color characteristics of a displayed color image formed by a plurality of pixels, the apparatus comprising: means (19) for storing pixel data, including pixel index values and hue (H), lightness (L) and saturation (S) pixel color values, each index value relating a set of H, L, S color values to at least one pixel; and means (11, 15) for modifying at least one of the H, L, S color values associated with an index value, enabling color modification of all pixels associated with said index value according to the color values associated with said index value; characterised by means (13) for selecting a color for modification by positioning a cursor at a pixel (27) having that color, said modifying means (11, 15) being arranged to modify at least one of the H, L, S color values associated with the index value for said selected pixel (27).
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 113 words
Apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said modifying means (11, 15) is operable to modify at least one of a set of H, L, S color values in response to input of new color data, said modifying means (11, 15) including a means (11) for inputting new color data for at least one of said set and a processor means (15) responsive to the new color data for changing said at least one of the set of stored H, L, S color values to the new color data, enabling color modification, according to the modified set, of all pixels of the image having the same index value as the selected pixel (27).
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 2, wherein the input means (11) includes a means for entering index values.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 62 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the input means is a keyboard (11) with a plurality of keys including H, L, S keys (29, 31, 33) for entering H, L, S. color values for specified pixels, each value being changeable by a predetermined discrete amount upon each actuation of the respective H, L, S key (29, 31, 33).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 57 words
An apparatus as -claimed in claim 2 or 3, wherein the input means (11) includes: a menu key (41), in response to actuation of which a menu (43) of color items is displayed; and wherein the cursor (25) is positionable at an item of the menu (43) for selecting a color from the menu (43) for display.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 125 words
A method for modifying selected colors of a displayed color image formed by a plurality of pixels, each pixel having an index associated with one set of a plurality of sets of stored hue (H), lightness (L), and saturation (S) color values; the method comprising the steps of: inputting at least one new color value; and changing at least one of the stored H, L, S color values of a set, enabling the color of all pixels having an index associated with that set to be changed to the color corresponding to the set of changed color values; characterised by the step of selecting the color of the image to be changed by positioning a cursor (25) at a selected pixel (27) having that color.
Claim 8
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 32 words
A method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said changing step comprises the step of actuating at least one input key (29, 31, 33) for entering hue, lightness and saturation color values.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 29 words
A method as claimed in claim 6, wherein said changing step includes the steps of displaying a menu (43) of colors and selecting a color from the menu (43).
