Torque-transmitting universal joint
Abstract
Abstract The torque-transmitting joint between an input drive and an operating machine consists of a sphere (2) with two annular slots (5, 6) arranged in planes at right angles to one another surrounding the centre of the sphere, and a ball joint pan (3), engaging over more than half of the sphere (2), with four pins (8, 9, 10, 11) arranged diametrically opposite in pairs, engaging in the annular slots (5, 6) and aligned radially to the centre of the sphere, and in each case with a shaft (1, 2) connected to the sphere (2) and to the ball joint pan (3). The pins (8, 9, 10, 11) are especially supported rotatably in sliding carriages (12, 13, 14, 15) and the sliding carriages are movable in the annular slots (5, 6). The sliding carriages (12, 13, 14, 15) can be supported on pins (8, 9, 10, 11) which pass through the ball joint pan (3) in the form of diametric axes and the annular slots (5, 6) can be designed as slots which pass through the sphere (2). <IMAGE>
