Abstract
Abstract An anti-theft alarm device for a video cassette recorder comprises a housing (2) in which is mounted an abutment member (18) pivotal between an inoperative position within the housing (2) and an operative position projecting from the housing (2) by appropriate operation of an associated control mechanism (12,14,16). On location of the housing (2) in the cassette-receiving mechanism (30) of a recorder and with the abutment member (18) in its operative position, said member (18) co-operates with the recorder such as to prevent removal of the housing (2) other than by actuation of the control mechanism (12,14). Also mounted in the housing (2) is a battery-operated electrical switching mechanism including a movement-sensitive electric switch (N) movable between an inoperative position and an operative position and a warning mechanism (A) the circuit of which is completed on movement of the switch (N) to its operative position.

An anti-theft alarm device for a video cassette. ' recorder characterised by a housing (2) for location in the cassette-receiving mechanism (30) of the recorder, an abutment member (18) mounted in said housing (2) and movable, by means of a control mechanism (12,14) operable from externally of the housing (2), between an inoperative position within the housing (2) and an operative position projecting from the housing (2), and a battery-operated, movement-sensitive electrical switching mechanism contained within said housing (2) and including a switch (N) movable between an inoperative position and an operative position, and a warning mechanism (A) the circuit of which is completed on movement of said switch (N) to its operative position, the arrangement being such that, on location of the housing (2) in the cassette-receiving mechanism (30) of the recorder and with the abutment member (18) in its operative position, said member (18) co-operates with the recorder to prevent removal of the housing (2) from the cassette-receiving mechanism (30) other than by actuation of said control mechanism (12,14) to move the abutment member (18) to its inoperative position and subsequent withdrawal of the device from said cassette-receiving mechanism (30).

An anti-theft alarm device as claimed in claim 1 in which the control mechanism comprises a key-operated lock (12,14) including a movable member (16) co-operating with the abutment member (18) such that rotation of the key (14) in the lock (12) between a rest position and a displaced position effects displacement of said movable member (16) and consequential movement of the abutment member (18) between its inoperative position and its operative position.
