Method for the automatic recognition of an image on the basis of a corresponding reference image
Abstract
Abstract Translated from French L'invention concerne un procédé de reconnaissance automatique d'une image (I) à partir d'une image correspondante de référence. The invention relates to a method for automatically recognizing an image (I) from a corresponding reference image. This process consists in obtaining, thanks to opto-electronic detection means (C), signals representative of the image to be recognized and of the reference image. These signals are digitized and stored in a memory M; the coordinates of a characteristic contour line in the image to be recognized and the reference image are then determined, using a processing unit (UT). We then segment this line and we code the segments (Si). The method is characterized in that it then consists in assigning to each segment a pair of values (ρi, ϑi) concerning its length (ρi) and its angle (ϑi) with respect to a reference direction. These pairs of values are compared by looking for coincidences between large segments of the contour to be recognized and of the reference contour. Application to pattern recognition, especially for robotics.
