Abstract

Aqueous compositions with a pH of at most 7.1 and in a novel combination at least quaternary, polymeric ammonium salts (homo- or copolymers with molecular weights from 10 3 to 10 9 ) - Anionic or non-ionic surfactants or those with intramolecularly one positive and one or two negative charges or mixtures of the surfactants of the type specified and - fatty acids Contain are usable as cosmetic agents, provided that in the presence of homopolymers non-ionic surfactants or those with intramolecular each have a positive and negative charge and that surfactants with intramolecularly positive and one or two negative charges as mixtures with anionic and or non-ionic surfactants are present. The homopolymers or copolymers are reacted with ion exchange with the surfactants, provided that anionic surfactants or those with an intramolecular one positive and two negative charges are used. When these cosmetic agents are applied to hair, excellent conditioning effects are achieved, in particular when shampooing, with the development of a creamy, stable foam.
