Abstract

Abstract An apparatus for detecting the position of a moving member comprising a moving member (M) having a magnetic substance with magnetical signals recorded thereon, and a stationary magnetic sensor (N) confronting the moving member and having a plurality of magnetoresistive elements (R. to R d ; R a to R d '), wherein the magnetoresistive elements are disposed in the magnetic sensor such that the elements have a phase difference of π/m in electrical angle, where m is an even number larger than or equal to four, for obtaining the positional signal of the moving member.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 94 words
An apparatus for detecting the position of a moving member comprising a moving member (M) having a magnetic substance with magnetical signals recorded thereon, and a stationary magnetic sensor (N) confronting said moving member and having a plurality of magnetoresistive elements (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d ') disposed in said magnetic sensor, said magnetoresistive elements having a phase difference of π/m in output electrical angle, where m is an even number larger than or equal to four, for obtaining the positional signal of said moving member (M).
Claim 2
Independent Claim 94 words
An apparatus for detecting the position of a moving member comprising a moving member (M) having a magnetic substance with magnetical signals recorded thereon, and a stationary magnetic sensor (N) confronting said moving member and having a plurality of magnetoresistive elements (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d ') disposed in said magnetic sensor, said magnetoresistive elements having a phase difference of π/m in output electrical angle, where m is an even number larger than or equal to four, for obtaining the positional signal of said moving member (M).
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 29 words
A position detecting apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said magnetoresistive elements (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d ') are m+1 in number.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 29 words
A position detecting apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said magnetoresistive elemetns (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d ') are m in number.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 95 words
A position detecting apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of other magnetoresistive elements (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d '), each of said other magnetoresistive elements is connected in series to each of said magnetoresistive elements (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d ') in order to form a 3-terminal connection element which has an output terminal (e a to e d ; e a ' to e d ') and two input terminals connected to a DC voltage source (V).
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 81 words
A position detecting apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of resistors (R o ), each of said resistors is connected in series to each of said magnetoresistive elements (R a to R d ; R a ' to R d ) in order to form a 3-terminal connection element which has an output terminal (e a to e d ; e a ' to e d ') and two input terminals connected to a DC voltage source (V).
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 116 words
A magnetic position detecting apparatus according to claim 4, further comprising first means (OP 1 to OP 6 ) which combines, in pair, voltage outputs at the output terminals (e a to e d ; e a ' to e d ') of said 3-terminal connection elements, each pair of outputs having a phase difference of π/m in electrical angle, and provides rectangular waves (Ea to Ef), and second means which combines, in pair, said rectangular waves, each pair of waves having a phase difference of 2π/m in electrical angle, and provides one positional signal (OA) and another positional signal (OB) through waveform combine circuits such as exclusive-OR gate circuits (EOR 1 to EOR 4 ).
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 116 words
A magnetic position detecting apparatus according to claim 5, further comprising first means (OP 1 to OP 6 ) which combines, in pair, voltage outputs at the output terminals (e a to e d ; e a ' to e d ') of said 3-terminal connection elements, each pair of outputs having a phase difference of π/m in electrical angle, and provides rectangualr waves (Ea to Ef), and second means which combines, in pair, said rectangular waves, each pair of waves having a phase difference of 2π/m in electrical angle, and provides one positional signal (OA) and another positional signal (OB) through waveform combine circuits such as exclusive-OR gate circuits (EOR 1 to EOR 4 ).
