Compounds of the formula wherein B is the group -C≡C- or -CH 2 CH 2 -, R 1 is straight-chain C 1 -C 12 denotes alkyl and R 2 is straight-chain C 1 -C 12 alkyl or straight-chain C 1 -C 12 alkoxy, their preparation and use in liquid-crystalline mixtures are described.
