Abstract
Abstract A non-melt-fabricable granular modified polytetrafluoroethylene in which the modifying comonomer is a fluorinated alkyl ethylene of the formula R f - CH = CH 2 . The polymer is useful in ram extrusion and in making molded articles.

A non-melt-fabricable granular modified polytetrafluoroethylene composition comprising tetrafluoroethylene polymer containing polymerized units of at least one copolymerizable monomer of the formula present in an amount which does not cause the melt viscosity to be less than about 1 X 10 8 PaS at 380°C., wherein R f is a fluorinated alkyl radical of 2-10 carbon atoms which is either perfluorinated or which is perfluorinated except for the presence of one substituent attached to a carbon atom of the R f radical which substituent is selected from hydrogen or halogen other than fluorine.
