Abstract @ A solid detergent composition is prepared by mixing a Non Soap Detergent, comprising alkyl sulphates in the «G» phase, with builders and, optionally, other ingredients of laundry detergent compositions, and forming the mixture into solid bars, tablets or flakes by non-evaporative solidification.

A method for the manufacture of solid non-soap detergent compositions which comprises mixing an aqueous surfactant, as herein defined, which surfactant comprises a water soluble alkyl sulphate or fatty acid or fatty ester sulphonate, at a concentration and temperature such that said surfactant is present, at least predominantly, in the "G" phase, with at least one builder and, optionally, other ingredients of said laundry compositions, and forming the mixture into a solid composition by non-evaporative solidification.
