Abstract

Abstract A positioning apparatus in which a runner (9) is arranged to travel backwards and forwards by means of a threaded spindle (2) extending in the lengthwise direction of the apparatus and engaging said runner (9). The runner (9) is slidably mounted on three guide members (10) positioned symmetrically around the spindle and in parallel therewith. The guide members are parts of guiding profiled members forming part of the housing (5) of the positioning apparatus (1). Special slide surfaces are arranged on the guide members. The housing (5) of the positioning apparatus is manufactured through extrusion, preferably from a light material, such as aluminium, while the slide surfaces are made from a harder material.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 124 words
A positioning apparatus comprising an elongate housing (5, 18) in which is rotatably mounted a threaded spindle (2) which extends lengthwise inside the housing and on which is mounted a runner (9, 21), said runner being provided with a member (28) projecting in the transverse direction of the positioning apparatus (1) and being arranged, upon rotation of the spindle (2), to travel backwards and forwards in the housing (5, 18) along guide members . (10, 19, 20) extending around and in parallel with the spindle, characterised in that the guide members (10, 19, 20) are integral parts of the housing (5, 18) and are provided with special slide surfaces exerting only minimal friction on the runner (9, 21) which is movable on said surfaces.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 124 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 53 words
A positioning apparatus as claimed in claim 1, said housing (5) being manufactured from a light material, such as aluminium, characterised in that rails (12) of a harder material than the housing (5) and the guide members (10) are provided on said guide members, forming slide surfaces on which the runner (9) travels.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 41 words
A positioning apparatus as claimed in claim 1, said housing (18) being manufactured from a light material, such as aluminium, characterised in that the slide surfaces on the guide members (19, 20) are produced by subjecting them to an anodic treatment.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 33 words
A positioning apparatus as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the means for mounting the runner (9) are bushings (15) which are slightly movable in the transverse direction of the positioning apparatus.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 32 words
A positioning apparatus as claimed in claim 4, characterised in that bearings (16) of a resilient material are provided in the runner (9), said bearings forming surfaces for mounting said bushings (15).
