Abstract

To prevent overloading of the rotor winding during critical operation of a squirrel-cage motor by switching on too often, the overload protection triggered by a square of the rectified stator current is designed so that the voltage is tapped as a voltage drop at a switchable resistor arrangement (R H1 , R H2 ) and the switching device (U) for the resistor arrangement is switched depending on the switching of a certain multiple of the nominal current (J N ). The higher resistance (R H2 ) when starting the machine is dimensioned so that three consecutive start-up processes when the machine is cold and only when the machine is warm two start-up processes can be carried out.
