Abstract
Abstract Vanadium-treated aluminum particles are provided, and in particular vanadium-treated pigment pastes, pigments, paints, and aluminum flakes, such aluminum being thereby transformed to a form capable of resisting attack from an aqueous medium. The vanadium-treated aluminum flakes may be obtained by posttreatment or by milling aluminum with a compound capable of providing vanadium, such as ammonium vanadate.
